VOX Cinemas Celebrate the Opening of Lebanon’s First IMAX® Theatre at VOX Cinemas City Centre Beirut

Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa celebrated the official opening of Lebanon’s first IMAX® theatre last night with the Premiere of the eagerly anticipated film, Deepwater Horizon.
Catering to increasing customer demand for world-class cinematic experiences in Lebanon, the new IMAX theatre has been recording high attendance rates since it opened its doors on September 10th with biographical drama Sully. Captured by director Clint Eastwood almost entirely with the new ALEXA IMAX® 65mm cameras, Sully expands vertically to fill more of the IMAX screen exclusively in IMAX for greater scope and breathtaking image quality.
With customers keen on experiencing the movie the way the filmmaker intended it to be seen and heard through a truly unique and immersive experience, Sully at IMAX® in VOX Cinemas City Centre Beirut led to sell-out success for a majority of the film’s sessions within the first couple of weeks of release.

Cameron Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, said: “Movie fans in Lebanon are continuously demanding better sound, image technology and fully immersive entertainment experiences which is why IMAX is a perfect fit for this market. We were extremely pleased to enthusiastic film buffs and loyal VOX customers to celebrate the launch. We are confident IMAX® at VOX Cinemas City Centre Beirut will continue to be an outstanding success in Lebanon, creating great moments for everyone every day.”

Indian Night at Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel Beirut

When was the last time you went out of your comfort zone and tried a new cuisine?
We have welcomed different types of food to our Lebanese culture from American, Italian, Chinese, French, Syrian and even Japanese but the Indian food is still an outsider in our culture. Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel in Ain El Mreysseh Beirut decided to take us on an Indian adventure every Thursday night to a scrumptious culinary journey through the many flavors of India. Guests will experience a diverse buffet featuring the tastiest cuisine from every corner of India which includes salads, their wide variety of main platters, their fresh spiced bread and of course desserts.
The buffet consists of 5 main sections: the bread section, the Lebanese mezza section, the Indian cold appetizers, the hot Indian food and the Indian/International desserts. There was also a guy serving chicken wings marinated in Indian spices.
•There was a variety of bread including 3 typical Indian varieties. We loved them especially the fried one with lots of spices. Dipping them in the hommos was divine.
•The lebanese mezza included the fresh tabbouleh, the creamy hommos, chini chat salad based on the chickpeas but with an Indian touch, moutabbal, beetroot and a bery special fruit salad but with sour spices.
•The Indian cold appetizers included a very tasty rice with mango and curry dressing, cucumber raita (cucumber and yoghurt with spices), bitter gourd salad, delicious potato salad tossed in spicy dressing and other vegetable based platters.
•From the Indian hot platters we couldn't but try and keep adding Curry Chicken with Basmati Rice. We are huge fans of this dish and it was one of the best we ever had! The chicken slices were succulent, the sauce was perfectly balanced and the rice was well cooked. It was our coup de coeur.

•The desserts were our guilty pleasure of the night since the Indian food is really healthy but when it comes to desserts there's no place for "healthy". There was 7 Indian desserts and 4 international ones including cheesecake, chocolate cake, tarts and a fruit salad. From the Indian ones we loved the rice ball that comes cooked in a special sweet and spicy sauce, the rice pudding that is similar to our "riz b halib", the gulab jamun that are kind of "sfouf" but served in a sweet sauce and the warm banana fritters in coconut sauce. We tried also the other desserts but the least that we can say is that our sweet tooth was really pampered.

Our taste buds went on a bungee jumping trip after our lavish meal where all our senses were wide awake thanks to the spices and the aroma that we miss in our daily food.
Indian food will satisfy your senses by spicing them up a little with this Taste of India journey every Thursday.
Price: 35$ including soft drinks.

Broumana's New Food Joints: Wrap N Roll & Juice Box

Broumana's summer was on fire this year and it will be that way all year long with the opening of several restaurants and food joints. Wrap'n'Roll is a new exciting concept with several wrap options whether chicken, meat or even vegetarian.
We tried the Philly Steak wrap and the Caesar Chicken wrap with meal boosters (fries and soft drink).

•The Caesar Chicken wrap had a big portion with tender grilled chicken slices, croutons, parmesan, iceberg lettuce and lots of Caesar sauce. We loved it.

•The Philly Steak wrap was smaller but filled with marinated steak slices, bell peppers, caramelized onions and cheese. The spices used made the wrap very flavorful and delicious.

The fries served with the wraps were very crunchy and not oily.
After having a cheat meal and eating lots of fries we settled for a healthy yet sweet dessert at Juice Box. They serve a variety of cocktails, smoothies fresh juices and detox mixes.
We tried the Rosie Cheeks and the Mango Tango. Our favorite was the Mango Tango because it was so refreshing and tasty.

Les Malins Hazmieh Love from the First Sight

One of the easiest tasks in Lebanon is to find a place to eat as there has been a restaurant boom in the past few years but it's very difficult to find "the" place that serves delicious and healthy food at the same time. Les Malins, a newly opened French Brasserie in Backyard Hazmieh was able to balance both conditions with its unique dining experience and its wide selection of sandwiches, salads, main platters and desserts.
•We started with the Kale aux Cranberries et Mangue Salad. It was a great beginning to our French feast. We have to praise the mixture between the sour taste of the kale and the sweetness of the mango and the cranberries. The walnuts added more texture to the salad and the simple lemon vinaigrette sauce made it very light and healthy.
•From the hot appetizers section we had the Calamars comme des Spaghettis Bolognaises platter and it was divine! The calamars were cooked in parmesan cream and served on a bed of bolognaise sauce. We loved the textures and the flavors.
•From the cold appetizers section we had the Carpaccio d'Artichauts à la Truffe. The artichoke slices were cooked to perfection and served in a refreshing lemon truffle sauce with rocket leaves and parmesan shaves on top.
•We couldn't but have a sandwich so we went for the Feuilleté au Saumon Fumée. It consisted of smoked salmon slices on a puff pastry filled with chives cream. The salmon was very fresh, the puff pastry was perfectly prepared and the filling was so balanced which made this sandwich very enjoyable.
As main platters we had a Château Filet and a Saumon d'Ecosse Grillé.
•Our "coup de coeur" was the grass fed Australian Beef Tenderloin served with "pomme douce frite" and "purée gratinée au parmesan, huile de truffe et chips" as accompagnements. The meat was succulent, extremely juicy, tender and full of flavors. It was one of the best steaks we have ever tried. It was served with a unique creamy mushroom pepper sauce that made it even better. This platter is an excellent choice for steak lovers. What we liked even more was the flavorful purée thanks to its creamy texture and truffle flavor.

•The Saumon d'Ecosse Grillée is the perfect choice for healthy food fans. It consisted of a big slice of grilled Scottish salmon fillet served on a bed of dried raisin couscous with a special lemon based sauce on the side. It was finger licking good.

When we say French Brasserie we can't but start dreaming of the "pâtisserie".
•The mailleur Pain Perdu de Paris was literally a greatly prepared pain perdu with an extremely moist heart and crunchy outing. The maple syrup and red fruits coulis were the healthier version of the caramel sauce but they did their job and delivered a wonderful version of this dessert.
• La Belle Pavlova was a pure joy for meringue lovers as it combined ice cream, and red fruits which made it light and super delicious.
We were very impressed with Les Malins whether from the tasty, beautifully presented and light on the stomach food, or the impeccable service. The idea of creating a healthy twist of our favorite food items is a superb initiative from their side. They showed us that they are really "malins" in terms of food preparation. Our slogan for this restaurant is Love at first bite.
